La Leche League started in our neighboring Chicago Suburb of Franklin Park, Illinois in 1956 by 7 mothers. La Leche League International has since become a world leader providing research based breastfeeding support through information and mother-to-mother groups throughout the world.
The Evanston-Wilmette group has been active in our community for more than 30 years. La Leche League International and our group are committed to providing Mother-to-mother breastfeeding support without requirement of charge to anyone who needs it.
Every local Leader and much of the organization is facilitated by volunteer mothers. This enables us to provide continued support to a family over months or years, without this much needed support becoming a burden on the family budget.
We Need your Help!
La Leche Leage International is a 501-C3 Non-Profit Organization. Each local group is responsible for its own costs and funraising. Unlike some organizations, local groups pay for their own costs and pay dues to cover a portion of La Leche League Internationals administrative oversight costs to keep each group running smoothly.
